Description/Interesting Notes:
An unusual old time example of acanthite with native silver from Broken Hill!!! This specimen consists of an irregular mass of blackish acanthite that hosts
several masses of spongiform native silver on an unidentified matrix in association with numerous orange spessartine garnets scattered throughout the entire specimen!!! The
acanthite is present as somewhat massive, sooty black material that hosts some scattered masses of grayish,
spongiform native silver!!! There are complex crystals of orange spessartine garnet scattered on and throughout the entire specimen!!! The
matrix consists of a combination of whitish, fine grained, talc-like matetial and compressed grayish material of a
decidedly waxy texture!!! This is
OLD Broken Hill material!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
