A terrific and rich example of this very rare tin chloride!!! Abhurite is formed ONLY by the reaction of sea water and pure tin and has been found
only in a few old shipwrecks worldwide!!! This specimen consists of a core of intergrown plates of abhurite crystals followed by an outer layer of
what is likely similar to "wood tin" cassiterite!!! This specimen is from the wreck of the SS Cheerful, which
was shipwrecked July 20th, 1885 eighteen miles from St. Ives and carried ingots of Cornish tin!!! These specimens are exceedingly scarce!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
