Description/Interesting Notes:
A magnificent example of acanthite from Canada!!! This specimen consists of a very rich showing of crystalline acanthite in association with
native silver, pyrargyrite, and calcite!!! The acanthite is present as a large, thick plate of intergrown crystals that host numerous
areas of intergrown native silver and is sandwiched between a layer of massive calcite and silver "slickenside" on one side
and a thin plate of massive pyrargyrite on the other!!! The acanthite has razor-sharp detail and intense, brilliantly metallic
luster!!! The main ridge of acanthite crystals hosts some particularly large, complex faces in person!!! The front of the specimen hosts a
smooth, flat area that is a natural "slickenside" that hosts numerous bright areas of native silver!!! The opposite side of the specimen
also shows impressively crystallized acanthite that is partially covered by a plate of massive pyrargyrite!!! Upon close inspection, one can
see reddish highlights throughout the darkly colored massive pyrargyite (as well as some small areas included within the acanthite)!!! The
native silver is present both as wires and as numerous masses partially included throughout the acanthite!!! This specimen is a killer in person -
the pics don't even come close to capturing just how fine it is!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED SATURDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 5-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY MARCH 22nd!!!
