Description/Interesting Notes:
A terrific example of acanthite and quartz from Mexico!!! This specimen consists of a handsome pairing of sharp quartz crystals and
highly complex crystals of silvery-gray acanthite!!! The quartz crystals are complete and pristine with some highly complex features!!!
Upon close examination, there appears to be some tiny, complex acanthite pseudomorphs after polybasite as well!!! There
are numerous unidentified reddish orange microcrystals scattered
among the acanthite crystals and tiny quartz points on the matrix as well (it was suggested that these crystals
may be xanthoconite crystals although I cannot say for certain - after close inspection it
certainly looks possible, and there is some very minor proustite or pyrargyrite in association
on the underside of the specimen as well)!!! Regardless, this specimen is simply a terrific combination of quartz and acanthite!!!
The pics don't even come close to doing it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
