Acanthite Bacu Arrodas mine, Muravera, Cagliari Province, Sardinia, Italy 5cm x 4.2cm x 3.2cm circa 1878

Description/Interesting Notes: A fantastic old time acanthite from this rare, historic Italian locale!!! This specimen consists of a very rich showing of dark gray metallic acanthite in association with calcite and quartz!!! Examples of ANY kind from this historic silver mining locale are extremely rare - let alone such a fine specimen of acanthite!!! This specimen is comprised mostly of acanthite (much of the apparent matrix is just concealing more underlying acanthite)!!! The acanthite is present as highly complex, crystalline masses with characteristic dark gray color and metallic luster!!! This specimen retains an affixed label that is dated 1878 and appears to possibly note a collector's name (we are still researching it and will post any relevant info if we find any)!!! Simply a fantastic, and rich, old time example of this prized silver-bearing ore from a rare, historic locale!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
