Description/Interesting Notes:
A fantastic example of acanthite from this seldom referenced Japanese locality!!! This specimen a group of
silvery gray acanthite crystals on a matrix of colorless fluorite and quartz crystals!!! The acanthite is present as complexly modified,
bright, silvery metallic crystals prominently perched among intergrown crystals of quartz and colorless fluorite crystals!!! The fluorite
crystals have stepped cubic habits and translucent to gemmy clarity!!!
Upon close inspection the fluorite crystals closest to the acanthite has a slight, silvery sheen on its surface - a
fascinating, curious feature!!! There are some smaller crystals of acanthite scattered about
the specimen as well, in association with a small amount of brownish chlorargyrite (intermixed with some earthy substrate)!!! Simply an
outstanding example of acanthite from this seldom referenced locality!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED MONDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 3-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY AUGUST 11th!!!
