Description/Interesting Notes:
A rare, old time example of acanthite from this famous, historic locality!!! This specimen consists of a quartz matrix that hosts
a rich showing of acanthite in association with a small amount of polybasite!!! The acanthite is present as some complex, crystalline groups
on the face of the specimen in addition to several broad, flattened masses!!! In addition to the acanthite, there is a small group of
fine, bladed polybasite crystals present tucked in a vug of quartz crystals!!! There are some minor associations of other sulphide species present as well!!!
There is also a significant amount of material included within the quartz matrix as well!!! This specimen retains an old affixed catalogue number and
an old unattributed label as well!!! Specimens from this locality are quite scarce today, and this is a fantastic example of acanthite for the locality!!! Nevada is
known as "The Silver State" due to its rich silver-mining history and it all began in this famous district!!!
