Description/Interesting Notes: A terrific old time acanthite from this classic locale!!! This specimen is from the collection of famed mineralogist Washington A. Roebling (1837-1926) and retains an old label from the Smithsonian (U. S. National Museum)!!! This specimen consists of a complex group of intergrown acanthite crystals in association with a small amount of calcite and quartz as well as a very minor amount of pyrite!!! The crystals exhibit a complex combination of highly modified cubo-octahedral features and have significant size as well!!! The crystals are way better than the pics show and the specimen is quite handsome in person!!! Specimen is in fantastic condition!!! Classic, old time material with fantastic provenance as well!!!
