Description/Interesting Notes:
A fantastic example of alabandite with rhodochrosite from the recent find Peru!!!
Examples of crystalline alabandite are extremely rare and these specimens from Peru
represent the absolute pinnacle of the species!!! This specimen hosts numerous sharp,
complex crystals of alabandite prominently perched on matrix!!! The main crystal exhibits
the characteristic twinning seen in some of these incredible crystals!!! There are numerous
smaller crystals that exhibit sharp spinel-twinning as well!!! This is fantastic example of alabandite
from this extraordinary find!!! The pics don't even come close to doing this rare specimen
justice!!! Must be seen in person
to be fully appreciated!!! It is my understanding that the small zone that contained this
material has already been exhausted and it appears that what little material was already
on the market has all but disappeared!!! No doubt this material is a future classic!!!
