Description/Interesting Notes:
A classic example of chrysoberyl var. alexandrite from Russia!!! This specimen
hosts a cluster of rare alexandrite crystals on a small amount of schist matrix!!!
The main crystal exhibits characteristic form and is prominently perched atop the matrix!!! The
crystals have marked luster and opaque to translucent clarity with some small areas of gemminess!!!
In person, the color is somewhat unusual and is much different than the pictures show!!! In regular incandescent lighting the
crystals exhibit a more yellowish-greenish-gray color - however under sunlight or full spectrum
fluorescent the crystals show a handsome, lively green color!!! Although it is difficult to
appreciate from the pictures, the smaller crystals are much more significant in person - with marked
clarity and luster!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
