Description/Interesting Notes: A fantastic example of this famed gem species from Zimbabwe!!! This specimen consists of a cluster of intergrown alexandrite crystals!!! The crystals have marked luster and significant translucent clarity!!! The crystal faces are well defined and the main crystal shows two prominent twin planes!!! Please note that although this specimen shows up as an intense purple color in the pictures - this specimen is a VERY different color in person!!! For some reason, digital cameras have great difficulty capturing the color of alexandrite crystals!!! In person this specimen shows a dark emerald green in sunlight and full spectrum fluorescent lighting and exhibits light purple color under incandescent lighting!!! With some backlighting this crystal shows more translucence in person than the pics show however!!!! Unfortunately there was no way to capture the green color in the pictures, however the green color change is quite significant in person!!! Simply a fantastic example of this rare and sought after species!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
