An incredible, old time example of allanite from Franklin!!! This specimen hosts several intergrown
crystals of allanite to 6cm!!! The crystals exhibit characteristic tabular form with dark, black color!!!
The crystals are well formed with sharply defined faces!!! There are some other unidentified species in
association with the calcite matrix!!!
Under SW UV the calcite exhibits lively red-orange fluorescence!!! This
specimen is from the collection of Otto Runge (1881-1942?) and
University of Delaware Mineralogical Museum and retains labels and affixed catalogue numbers for both!!! Very rare, old time material!!! An
exceptional example of the species for the locality!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
