Description/Interesting Notes:
An absolutely amazing, old time example of allanite from Russia!!! This specimen consists of a large, thick compound crystal of
allanite!!! This old time rarity has well-defined complex faces and terminations!!!
This specimen has amazing provenance as well!!! This specimen's history can be
traced back to the 1800's, beginning with the "59" label affixed to the reverse which is that of
late 1800's mineral dealer Frederick Herman Hoseus of Switzerland!!! The specimen was
then purchased by Clarence Bement and found its way, with the rest of his collection, to the American Museum of Natural
History (label photographed below)!!! It was later acquired in exchange from the museum by well-known mineral dealer Lawrence Conklin for his
own personal collection!!! Conklin subsequently parted with the specimen and it was acquired by Robert Nowakowski!!! This specimen
retains all of its old aforementioned labels of course!!! The pictures hardly do it justice!!! Simply an incredible example of the species for
ANY locality with amazing provence as well!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
