Description/Interesting Notes:
A rare, old time example of almandine garnet from NEW YORK CITY!!! Mineral specimens from New York City are
quite rare and HIGHLY sought after by collectors!!! This specimen hosts a handsome crystal of
deep red almandine garnet prominently perched on matrix in association with some darkly colored schorl tourmaline!!!
The garnet crystal exhibits highly complex, modified form with unusual, slightly curved features!!! The crystal is complete and in fantastic
condition (there is a small amount of mica intergrown in one area however this is not damage)!!! The crystal has
marked luster, deep red color, and shows areas of marked clarity as well!!! There are a couple smaller almandine garnet
crystals scattered about the matrix as well!!! This specimen has affixed catalogue numbers and retains an old museum label with notation that it
was a gift of well known mineral collector Charles W. Hoadley (1878-1942) as well!!! This is a very fine New York City specimen
indeed!!! Don't miss out on this rare opportunity!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED MONDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 3-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY OCTOBER 20th!!!
