Description/Interesting Notes:
A rare and historic example of almandine garnet from New York City!!! This specimen consists of a handsome showing of
sharp, lustrous almandine garnet crystals prominently perched on matrix!!! This specimen dates to the 1880's and is
from the area of 65th Street and Broadway Boulevard!!! In the 19th century, this exact section of road was called simply
"The Boulevard" as can be seen on the historic label affixed to the specimen (it wasn't until 1899 that it was renamed "Broadway Boulevard")!!!
The almandine garnet crystals have sharp, glassy, modified faces and deep reddish brown color!!! This is a magnificent, old time
New York specimen indeed!!! What makes this specimen even more exciting is that it is actually from the present day site of the
Lincoln Center!!! Simply incredible old time material!!! These historic NYC specimens are extremely rare and HIGHLY sought after!!!
Don't miss out on this rare and historic find!!! This specimen is from the collection of Tony Nikischer and retains an original collection label as well!!! We just acquired
the 6000+ specimen PERSONAL collection of Tony Nikischer and there are going to be some very
exciting minerals to come in the upcoming days and weeks!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
