A fabulous old time example of almandine from Colorado!!! This specimen hosts two large crystals of almandine on a chlorite matrix!!!
The crystals are sharp and prominently perched on the matrix!!! The crystals also have a coating of "aphrosiderite" on their faces!!!
A terrific classic with great provenance!!! This specimen retains labels from the Warford, Trainer, and Belmont Abbey College collections!!!
I have posted an excerpt from John Traner's bio pertaining to his acquisition of the Warford Collection below!!!
