Description/Interesting Notes:
This is a very rare example of BLUE andalusite from California!!! Usually andalusite is encountered as brown or
otherwise drab colors - however this unusual specimen hosts a complex network of highly complex andalusite crystals
that exhibit a remarkable blue color!!! The crystals at first seem to have somewhat rounded features, however upon close inspection with a loupe or
scope one can see that the crystals have all kinds of highly complex, lustrous faces!!! The crystals exhibit
marked clarity, with some of the crystals showing areas of marked gemminess!!! The blue color is rich and significant!!! Upon
close examination one can see some tiny, intense royal blue crystals of what are presumably lazulite scattered about as well!!! Additionally
some of the andalusite crystals have begun to alter to pyrophyllite!!! The side of this specimen shows radiating sprays of
tan pyrophyllite crystals and the reverse hosts some larger, chunky crystals of blue andalusite!!! An incredible example of the
species indeed!!! Rare material!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!! This specimen is from the collection of Tony Nikischer and retains its original personal collection label!!!
