Description/Interesting Notes:
A rare and fantastic, old tim example of RAINBOW iridescent andradite garnet from Mexico!!! While the iridescent garnets from Japan have
made some headlines in recent years, these old time iridescent garnets from Mexico were among the first examples of such material - they are just
so uncommon that few people were ever aware of them!!! This specimen consists of a group of intergrown andradite garnet crystals!!! The
crystals are dark reddish brown in color with a thick outer layer of golden amber!!! The crystals have marked clarity and exhibit a most incredible, and
utterly unique, iridescence!!! The iridescence is presence as sharply angular bands of surprising brightness distributed throughout the crystals!!! I must stress that the
pictures do not even come close to doing this dynamic phenomenon justice - in person the iridescence is much more pronounced and distributed throughout the crystals!!! In person
the crystals look like they have electric neon displays within them!!! This material is rare and highly sought after - this specimen is worth a considerable sum in
gem rough alone!!! This specimen came out of an old collection an its original location was noted as "Cárdenas, Chihuahua, Mexico" however, after some research it has been determined that
this specimen is almost certainly from the Alamos area in Sonora!!! The pics don't even come close to doing this incredible specimen justice!!! Must be
seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
