Description/Interesting Notes:
A historic, old time example of anglesite from the type locality in Wales!!! This specimen hosts numerous small crystals
of anglesite scattered throughout the matrix!!! Upon close study, one can see well formed, translucent crystals of anglesite
all over this specimen!!! This is very old material and has incredible provenance as well!!! This specimen is from the Finnish Museum
of Natural History at the University of Helskinki and retains old museum labels!!! What's more, is that this
specimen is also from the collection of Count Fabian Steinheil (1762-1831) who was the Governer-General of Finland (the equivalent of
commander-in-chief or president!)!!! Count Steinheil's mineral collection also happens to represent the OLDEST part of
the Finnish Museum's collection!!! This specimen could very well date to the late 1700's!!! (There is a rich amount of history
related to Count Steinheil (and the Finnish Museum as well) that can be found online if one wishes to learn more!!!)
Rarely do you find specimens with such history and provenance!!! Don't miss out on this rare, old time type locality anglesite!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED MONDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 3-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY DECEMBER 1st!!!
