Description/Interesting Notes:
A classic, old time example of rare "cubic" antigorite from this historic New York locale!!! This specimen hosts
an attractive showing of sharply defined "cubic" antigorite crystals!!! Antigorite is most often seen as asbestiform or lamellar masses, however
these unusual specimens from Tilly Foster (possible pseudomorphs) exhibit pronounced pseudocubic form!!! The
crystals have handsome light green color and have an almost, slightly pearlescent quality!!! The crystals are sharp and lustrous!!! In addition to the
antigorite, there are numerous small patches of lively red color - these are actually paper-thin areas of rutile in association!!!
Rare old time material!!! This specimen retains an old label from the collection of Frank W. Hess as well!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED SATURDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 5-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY MAY 3rd!!!
