A rare example of apatite from the Ruggles Mine!!! This specimen hosts several crystals of apatite in an albite matrix!!! However, one of the
crystals is particularly fine, consisting of a sharp, complete crystal!!! The color is a pale bluish green gray with marked translucence and glassy luster!!!
The specimen fluoresces a bright yellow and there appears to be a dendritic association with uraninite as well!!! Albert Peppis was one of the Ruggles Mine's
foremost collectors and this apatite crystal is quite exceptional for the locality indeed!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!!
This specimen is from the Albert Peppis Collection and retains its original label!!! We just recently acquired the lifelong collection
of Albert Peppis, and detailed information about both him and the collection are on our
"About Me" page - so be sure to check it out!!!
