Description/Interesting Notes:
A rare, old time example of gem apatite from Cornwall!!! This specimen hosts a pair of wonderfully gemmy apatite crystals prominently perched on
a matrix!!! The apatite crystals have a handsome bluish green color with glassy luster and razor sharp faces!!! While the larger crystal is
not fully complete, the crystal in the center is complete and pristine - and as you can see the specimen displays quite handsomely indeed!!! The
crystals range in size to nearly 5mm!!! This specimen retains old labels from Sam Henson (b.1848) and the Seaman Mineral Museum with notation that it came
from the collection of L.L. Hubbard!!! This specimen likely dates to the 1880's or earlier!!! The Seaman label notes that there is
tourmaline in association, however I could only find a tiny area of material that 'could' be tourmaline on the reverse, so I just labelled it as
apatite!!! There are however two seperate micaceous-looking species in association, one yellow and one dark green!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!!
Rare, old time material!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
