Description/Interesting Notes:
An absolutely magnificent example of blue apatite from New York!!! This specimen consists of a large, sharply formed crystal of
blue apatite in association with a small amount of calcite!!! The specimen has sharp, glassy faces and incredible blue color that
is much more dramatic than the pictures show!!! The crystal has some highly complex features and is in terrific condition all around (some
areas that might appear to be damage in the pictures are actually complexly crystalline features)!!!
This is simply an incredible old time New York beauty!!! This specimen retains an old label from Wilhelm Maucher (in Wilhelm's handwriting) that identifies
the specimen using an antiquated varietal name that refers to a blue-green variety of apatite (the name is a variation of moroxite a blue
green varietal of apatite originally described from Arendal, Norway)!!!
There is a small amount of calcite in association and the very tip of the
termination appears to have some mica-like mineral in very minor association as well!!! This is
an extraordinary blue apatite from New York - a
unique old time beauty indeed!!! The pics don't even come close to capturing just how striking it is in person!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED MONDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 3-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY DECEMBER 22nd!!!
