Description/Interesting Notes:
A magnificent and unusual example of agate after aragonite from Mexico!!! This specimen consists of a group of
elongated aragonite crystals that have been completely replaced by quartz var. agate!!! The pseudomorphs exhibit
dramatic elongated, prismatic form with sharply defined features and terminations!!! The agate has marked
clarity with significant areas of gemmy translucence!!! The main crystal has a curious zone of milk-colored agate with
tiny red dots scattered throughout while the other crystals do not share this feature - these crystals instead show
complex scenes of amorphous inclusions floating in gemmy translucent golden amber colored agate!!! This specimen has
numerous complex and unusual features that are very inruiging upon close study!!! The area that appears to be
damaged on the termination actually appears to have been partially healed!!! This specimen is in fantastic condition overall and
displays stunningly in person!!! I have seen just a couple of these unusual old time pseudomorphs from Mexico over the years and this one is
by far the largest, most significant, and showy examples by an order of magnitude!!! Simply incredible in person!!! This specimen
retains an old label from the collection of Dick Hauck as well!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED MONDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 3-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY APRIL 19th!!!
