Argyrodite with Minor Pyrite Himmelsfurst Mine, Brand-Erbisdorf, Freiberg District, Erzgebirge, Saxony, Germany 2cm x 1.3cm x 1.15cm Ex. Herb Obodda

Description/Interesting Notes: A fantastic, old time example of this very rare silver germanium sulphide from the type locality in Germany!!! These historic argyrodite specimens from Himmelsfurst date to latter half of the 1800's and are extremely rare today!!! This specimen consists of somewhat botryoidal groups of argyrodite crystals in association with minor pyrite!!! Although it is difficult to discern from the pics, upon close inspection in person one can find numerous sharp crystals and crystal faces scattered about the rounded subhedral forms!!! The crystals range in size up to an impressive 3.5mm!!! There is much more to see upon close study with a loupe or scope!!! Simply an outstanding example of this rare and sought after species!!! This specimen retains an old Herb Obodda label as well!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
