Description/Interesting Notes:
A magnificent, old time example of rare crystalline native arsenic from Japan!!! Native arsenic is rather scarce in nature, however
examples of native arsenic crystals are extremely rare!!! The overwhelming majority of naturally occuring native arsenic is
seen as massive, botryoidal material with examples of crystalline native arsenic being extremely rare by comparison!!! This historic
locality has produced what are considered to be some of the finest examples of crystalline native arsenic known!!! Usually
these clusters are somewhat small and this one, at 2.4cm is quite large for the locality!!! This specimen consists of a
network of intergrown rhombohedral crystals of native arsenic!!! The individual rhombs are significantly sized and
rather well defined - much more defined than the pics show!!! Usually these specimens are seen as ball-shaped "floaters" with
no associated matrix or point of attachment - however what makes this specimen even more unusual is that there are
some small areas of intergrown pyrite!!! This is a killer example of native arsenic from this famed old time locale!!! This
specimen is from the well known collection of James & Dawn Minette and retains its original label as well!!! You don't want
to miss out on this classic rarity!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED MONDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 3-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 27th!!!
