Description/Interesting Notes:
An old time example of arsenopyrite with native gold from Nova Scotia!!! This specimen consists of a complex mass of intergrown
crystals of silvery arsenopyrite crystals that host scattered masses of native gold!!! Among the silvery arsenopyrite crystals
are darkly colored areas of intergrown matrix that have razor-sharp impressions of arsenopyrite crystals that cause them to look
like crystals themselves!!! The native gold is present as a small vein included within the arsenopyrite crystals and a few tiny grains
scattered around the specimen!!! It is difficult to see the gold on this specimen, however upon close inspection with a loupe or scope, one can
see that there are tiny grains and patina-thin patches of native gold scattered about!!! Perhaps this specimen would more accurately be
described as "Gold rich Arsenopyrite"!!! This specimen is from the A.E. Seaman Mineral Museum and retains an old label and catalogue number
as well!!! Must
be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
