Autunite
Les Oudots Quarry, Grury, Issy-l'Eveque, Saone-et-Loire, Burgundy, France
4cm x 3cm x 2.4cm
Ex. Chervet Collection (c. 1951)
Ex. Sorbonne Museum
Description/Interesting Notes:
A classic example of autunite from France!!! This specimen hosts a rich showing of bright yellow
crystals of autunite on matrix!!! The crystals are present as chunky "books" of thin square-shaped
crystals!!! The crystals are sharply defined and prominent!!! There is perhaps some minor crust-like
uranocircite present on the reverse as well (not pictured)!!! This specimen came from
the Sorbonne Museum and retains an old label that notes it is from the Chervet Collection (for whom Chervetite is named!)
and is dated 1951!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
