Description/Interesting Notes: A rare example of bahianite from the type locality in Brazil!!! This specimen consists of a characteristic alluvial pebble of bahianite!!! This rare species is surprisingly hard - in fact it is one of the hardest minerals known with the exception of diamond!!! At a hardness of nine, it is the same hardness as corundum!!! Rare material!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!! This specimen is from the collection of Tony Nikischer!!! We just acquired the 6000+ specimen PERSONAL collection of Tony Nikischer and there are going to be some very exciting minerals to come in the upcoming days and weeks!!! Prior to the Nikischer collection this specimen was originally from the collection of Florence Mecke (acquired from the late 1930's until the 1970's)!!!
