Description/Interesting Notes:
An incredible example of barite from this unique locality!!! This specimen consists of a quartz crystal lined geode that hosts a
large single crystal of barite prominently perched within!!! The barite crystal has razor sharp,
brilliantly lustrous faces and gemmy clarity!!! The crystal measures well over 2.2cm and has a unique, blocky habit that could cause it to almost be mistaken for
a fluorite crystal!!! In addition, the crystal is bicolor - half of the crystal exhibits an intense golden yellow color while the other
half is a very faint blue to colorless!!! There are two other tiny barite crystals in association as well!!! Upon close inspection the
quartz crystals exhibit a complexly modified appearance that makes them almost resemble calcite crystals from afar!!! This specimen is absolutley pristine
with no damage whatsoever!!! The barite crystal has a striking play of light within!!! This specimen is very showy and impressive in person!!! Simply
an extraordinary "Keokuk geode" indeed!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
