An unusual example of barite from Butte!!! Although barite is a common mineral, good barite specimens were uncommon at Butte!!! This specimen
consists of a complex cluster of blocky crystals of colorless barite in association with highly complex pyrite crystals and somewhat altered enargite crystals!!!
The barite crystals range from opaque to translucent to near gemmy!!! The crystals are sharp and lustrous as well!!! The pyrite is brilliant and rather
impressive in person!!! Upon close inspection one can find a number of curious features as well, such as a few tiny chalcocite pseudos after enargite!!! The
pics hardly do it justice!!! This specimen is from the collection of noted Butte scholar and collector Bob Jenkins and it retains his original
collection label as well!!!
