Description/Interesting Notes:
A magnificent example of this rare and sought after species from Franklin!!! This specimen consists of a dense group of platy crystals of
barysilite in association with willemite and other species!!! The barysilite comprises most of the specimen and is present as a dense group of
plate-like crystals with pale lavender purple color, slight translucence, and glassy luster!!! One side of the specimen shows
broad plates of barysilite the run the length of the specimen!!! There is an area of almost colorless, pale straw yellow, gemmy willemite that is
very well crystallized but exhibits a complex, etched network of faces (not unlike the etched garnets seen from Brazil)!!!
The willemite fluoresces a bright yellow green under SW UV as well!!! There are some
other, unidentified minerals in association as well, present as tan to orange-ish masses
and a deep amber brown translucent mass as well (these undentified species do not fluoresce, although there
are some tiny grains of otherwise undetectable material that fluoresce red)!!! This is a really great barysilite specimen - the pics
hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED MONDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 3-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY APRIL 14th!!!
