Bassetite

Wheal Basset, Camborne - Redruth - St Day District, Cornwall, England

.82cm x .675cm x .35cm

Description/Interesting Notes:

A very rare, old time example of bassetite from the type locality in Cornwall - Wheal Basset!!! Examples of this sought after rarity are quite difficult to come by indeed!!! This specimen hosts a significant aggregate crystal that measures 3mm that is prominently perched on the darkly colored contrasting matrix!!! It was difficult to capture in the pictures, but the specimen is quite well crystallized and fantastic under close examination!!! The bassetite has a particularly livley golden color (due in part to its significant thickness) and an almost pearlesent luster!!! This is a fantastic example of the species!!! The specimen is very well mounted in a micro box and has a label on the reverse!!! The pics hardly do it justice - must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!! Very rare material!!! Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED SATURDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 5-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 23rd!!!
