Description/Interesting Notes:
A fantastic example of this very rare silver bearing species from Peru!!! This specimen hosts a particularly rich showing of
this very rare species, scattered across the matrix as purplish-reddish brown microcrystals in handsome association with
orange orpiment crystals and sharp, lustrous crystals of the rare thallium bearing species hutchinsonite!!!
Baumhauerite-2a is a very rare species and this is a magnificent example for the locality!!! Upon close inspection with a loupe or
scope one can see just how rich and significant the microcrystals are!!! The hutchinsonite is present as sharply formed, lustrous
crystals to 6mm and there is much more crystalline material present than the pics show as well!!! The orpiment crystals are
present as well formed rosettes and clusters of complex orange translucent crystals!!!
Not only is this a rich example of this rare species - it is quite handsome and intruiging as well!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!! This specimen is from the collection of
