A rare, old time combination specimen from Tsumeb!!! Wild and complex combinations of minerals
like this are one of the things that makes Tsumeb such an extraordinary locality!!! This specimen consists of a rich and colorful mass of
bright green bayldonite that hosts several rare pseudomorphs of bayldonite after mimetite (ranging in size to 2.3cm long!) with a rich showing of
razor-sharp, glassy, crystals of gem azurite prominently perched all over the specimen and several intergrown crystals of malachite after azurite altering to
turquoise colored rosasite!!! These rare bayldonite after mimetite pseudomorphs date to the late 1890's/early 1900's and are highly
sought after by collectors today!!! In addition to the two large and prominent bayldonite after mimetite pseudomorphs, there are numerous
smaller pseudomorphs scattered about as well!!! The association of gem azurite crystals combined with
the intense green bayldonite makes for a striking combination indeed!!! As if this werent enough, there are several clusters of tabular
azurite crystals that have been completely replaced by fibrous, velveteen malachite crystals that are additionally being replaced by rosasite!!!
These rosasite-malachite after azurite double pseudomorphs are quite rare in and of themselves!!! This specimen displays stunningly in
person!!! Don't miss out on this rare, old time Tsumeb beauty!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
