Description/Interesting Notes:
A fantastic and unusual old time example of this unusual and rare quartz varietal from Minnesota!!! Binghamite is a rare
variety of chalcedony that is comprised of quartz included with a combination of goethite and hematite that gives it a particularly
dramatic cat's eye-like chatoyance!!! The material slightly resembles petrified wood with areas of parallel banding - however the
deep reddish material exhibits an amazing chatoyance that is unlike anything else!!! The material literally lights up as if it were
plugged in!!! The color is a rich, intense red and the chatoyance is exceptional!!! It was very difficult to capture in the pics, however
it is quite dynamic in person!!! Rare old time material!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!! This specimen is from the collection
of Tony Nikischer!!! We just acquired the 6000+ specimen PERSONAL collection of Tony Nikischer and there are going to be
some very exciting minerals to come in the upcoming days and weeks!!! Prior to the Nikischer collection this specimen was
originally from the collection of Florence Mecke (acquired from the late 1930's until the 1970's)!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED MONDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 3-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY FEBRUARY 14th!!!
