Description/Interesting Notes:
A fantastic, old time example of classic "Blue John" fluorite from England!!! This specimen consists of a thick,
handsome, massive showing of intergrown, columnar fluorite crystals that exhibit the characteristic color banding that this
prized fluorite varietal is so famous for!!! "Blue John" fluorite was used for a wide variety of
ornamental purposes however the deposits that produced this highly desireable material have long since been exhausted!!! Consequently, true "Blue John" fluorite
is rarely seen today, except in fine antiques!!! This specimen exhibits a zone of yellowish fluorite followed by a zig-zagging
band of intense bluish purple (that actually consists of numerous smaller zones of color), and then a layer of white or colorless fluorite capped
by a thin layer of purple!!! This specimen retains an unattributed label that notes this specimen dates to the 1930's!!!
This specimen is from the collection of Tony Nikischer!!! We just acquired
the 6000+ specimen PERSONAL collection of Tony Nikischer and there are going to be some very
exciting minerals to come in the upcoming days and weeks!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED SATURDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 5-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY OCTOBER 25th!!!
