A fantastic example of very rare boggsite with tschernichite from the type locality for both species in Oregon!!! This specimen hosts a small
vug lined with tschernichite crystals that hosts a magnificent ball of boggsite crystals!!! This specimen was
given by renowned zeolite expert and author of "Zeolites of the World", Rudy Tschernich to collector and friend Ken Hogan!!! This specimen
retains its original Hogan label, a label from Rudy Tschernich, and a copy of the letter that accompanied it from Rudy Tschernich!!! In the letter, Rudy decribes its significance, great rarity and value!!!
He notes that there were only a few found and that they never exceed 1mm in diameter!!! However this specimen does appear to measure just
over 1mm!!! This is a magnificent
example of the species!!! Boggsite was actually named for Robert M. Boggs, who rediscovered this locality, and for Russel C. Boggs who
charichterized and named Tschernichite!!! Not only is this a fantastic example of this rare species, but it has incredible provenance as well!!! The
pics hardly do it justice!!!
