Bornite with Quartz Dzhezkazgan, Karagandy Province, Kazakhstan 3.24cm x 1.8cm x .96cm

Description/Interesting Notes: A fantastic example of crystalline bornite from Kazakhstan!!! While bornite is a relatively common massive ore, examples of crystalline bornite are quite rare by comparison!!! This specimen hosts a trio of well formed crystals of bornite on a matrix of sharp quartz points!!! The bornite crystals range in size up to over 8mm!!! The crystal have highly complex habits with well defined faces and features!!! The crystals have an attractive iridescent patina that is quite showy in person!!! The largest crystal appears to have a a second, interpenetrant crystal that exhibits a dramatically different iridescent metallic patina!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!!
