Description/Interesting Notes:
An old time example of silver-bearing bornite from New Mexico!!! Although it is difficult to capture in the pics, this specimen
hosts a very significant showing of CRYSTALLINE bornite!!! There are several significant groups of
crystals and areas that exhibit complexly ordered masses of small, oriented faces!!! Upon close examination there is much more
crystallization present than it first appears!!! The specimen is largely comprised of solid bornite, however there are areas of
tiny, intergrown quartz crystals and a small amount of matrix in association!!! Additionally, upon close inspection one can see that there
are areas of blackish microcrystalline material that erupts from areas on the bornite (perhaps Ag-related species?) and has a slight bluish
metallic iridescence as well!!! Very unique, old time material!!! This specimen retains a label from the A.E. Seaman Mineral Museum as well!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
