Description/Interesting Notes:
A classic, old time example of bornite and chalcopyrite var. blister copper from Cornwall!!! This specimen consists of a
three-dimensional matrix of botryoidal chalcopyrite var. blister copper that hosts an impressive showing of sharp, crystalline bornite!!!
The chalcopyrite var. blister copper exhibits a handsome bronze patina with iridescent highlights and varied hues!!! The
bornite crystals are very sharp and have an attractive blue to purple metallic iridescence!!! Bornite is most often seen as massive
material or iridescent coatings - however these old time Cornish bornites are exceptional examples of the species!!! This is classic, characteristic material from Cornwall!!!
What I have always found so fascinating about these classic specimens is that both species (that are relatively abundant ores otherwise)
are present in forms that are completely atypical to their usual appearance!!! This specimen retains an old Martin Ehrmann label as well!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED MONDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 3-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 15th!!!
