Description/Interesting Notes:
An absolutely incredible, huge, old time example of bournonite from Utah!!! When I first saw this specimen, I was certain it had to be
from a South American, or European locality - however I was stunned to learn it was from Utah!!! This specimen consists of a very large cluster of
crystals comprised of quartz and sphalerite that hosts a stunning showing of brilliantly metallic bournonite crystals!!! The bournonite crystals are
sharp and highly lustrous with a somewhat unique, blocky habit and a distinct slightly golden hue!!! There are a few sphalerite crystals
present among the bournonite crystals, and they exhibit a curious golden metallic luster as well - however you can see reddish brown fire wihin!!!
The matrix is comprised of massive sphalerite and quartz with some pyrite and galena in association!!! This specimen is
in magnificent condition all around
and there are significant vugs loaded with bournonite crystals visible on the side of the specimen too
(this large specimen could be trimmed up into numerous very valuable smaller specimens as well)!!!
This is an AMAZING specimen in every regard!!! This historic locality at one time produced some of the most incredible examples of bournonite known (A.F. Holden once owned one of the notable examples from this locality)!!!
This specimen is actually one half of a much larger specimen that had originally been acquired
from a noted U.S. institution (in person, one can see the fresh edge versus the very old edges)!!!
This is an extraordinary specimen indeed!!!
The pics don't even come close to capturing just how fine and impressive this historic beauty is!!! You do not want to miss out on this rare opportunity!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!!
Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED SATURDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 5-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY APRIL 21st!!!
