Description/Interesting Notes:
A magnificent old time example of bournonite from Utah!!! When I first saw one of these old time Park City bournonite specimens,
I was certain it
had to be from a South American, or European locality - however I was stunned to learn it was from Utah!!! This specimen
consists of a network of tiny, intergrown quartz crystals that serves as a matrix for a stunning showing of brilliantly
metallic bournonite crystals!!! The bournonite crystals are sharp and highly lustrous with a somewhat characteristic
blocky habit!!! Upon close inspection, there are some scattered crystals that have an almost porous structure however they are
not damaged crystals!!! There are a few sphalerite crystals present among the bournonite crystals, and although
some of them appear to have an almost metallic luster, they have marked clarity and a
reddish brown fire wihin!!! This specimen is in terrific condition and displays fantastically in person!!!
This historic locality at one time produced some of the most incredible examples of bournonite known
(A.F. Holden once owned one of the notable examples from this locality)!!! This specimen came out of an old Museum collection and
likely dates back a century or more!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be
seen in person to be fully appreciated!!! Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED MONDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 3-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY JULY 14th!!!
