Calaverite

Cripple Creek District, Teller Co., Colorado

4.23cm x 3.6cm x 2.6cm

Ex. J. Cilen Collection No. 9060

Description/Interesting Notes:

A fantastic example of this rare gold telluride from Colorado!!! This specimen consists of a quartz matrix that hosts a rich showing of brilliantly metallic calaverite in association with purple fluorite and some tiny quartz crystals!!! The calaverite is present both as significant masses in the matrix as well as prominent, sharply defined, mirror-brilliant crystals!!! The crystals have a wonderful tin-white silver hue with hints of silvery-golden yellow in areas!!! The specimen is WAY better than the pictures show and is quite striking in person!!! This specimen retains an old label from the Cilen collection as well!!! Must be seen to be fully appreciated!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED SATURDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 5-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY OCTOBER 21st!!!
