Description/Interesting Notes:
A fantastic example of this rare gold telluride from Colorado!!! This specimen consists of a quartz
matrix that hosts a rich showing of brilliantly metallic calaverite in association with purple
fluorite and some tiny quartz crystals!!! The calaverite is present both as significant masses
in the matrix as well as prominent, sharply defined, mirror-brilliant crystals!!! The crystals
have a wonderful tin-white silver hue with hints of silvery-golden yellow in areas!!! In fact, upon
close examination, there are
some areas where the calaverite has begun to show alteration to native gold!!! The deep vug
also hosts some complex fluorite crystals and some views that are awe-inspiring when viewed with a scope or loupe!!! The
specimen is WAY better than the pictures show and is quite striking in person!!! This specimen
was actually part of a single larger specimen that Cilen had acquired from the Edna Doughty Collection -
this specimen retains an old label from the Doughty collection with Cilen's note on the reverse!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!!
Must be seen to be
fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
