Description/Interesting Notes: A magnificent, old time example of calcite from New York!!! This specimen consists of a dolomite crystal covered matrix that hosts numerous, complex doubly terminated scalenohedral crystals of calcite!!! The calcite crystals have sharp terminations, complex modifications, and marked translucence!!! This specimen is in magnificent condition for an old timer with only the smallest amount of barely noticeable damage!!! This specimen is absolutely gorgeous in person!!! In addition to the old Hess label, this specimen has several other labels from noted East Coast mineral personalities!!! While the original Hess label notes the locality as "Rochester" this specimen is undoubtedly from the nearby Lockport locality!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!!
