Description/Interesting Notes:
A magnificent example of pyromorphite from Italy!!! This specimen was actually
labelled as mimetite var. campylite, and these crystals clearly exhibit
the characteristic campylite habit, however the specimens from this locality have historically been reported as pyromorphite!!! The
previous label certainly points to just how unique this material is however!!! This showy, aesthetic specimen hosts a rich showing of
brilliantly lustrous (wet-looking!), barrel-shaped botryoids of INTENSE green pyromorphite!!! Upon close inspection, one can see that the
crystals are not just "botryoids" but actually have the classic campylite form!!! One can also see that
some of the spires of crystals actually host a secondary
growth of tiny pyromorphite crystals of an even greener color as well!!! This specimen is simply amazing in person!!! The pics
don't even come close to doing it justice!!! This specimen retains an old label from the Hoppner collection as well!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
