Description/Interesting Notes:
A classic, old time example of this highly prized pseudomorph from Cornwall!!! These old cassiterite after orthoclase
pseudomorphs came from a small, one time find in Wheal Coates around 1828 and have been highly sought after by collectors ever
since!!! This specimen consists of a pair of sharply twinned orthoclase crystals that have been completely replaced by
cassiterite!!! The main crystal is rather large for this occurence and although it is not complete on one end, this is a feature
that happened in situ and is not actual damage per se!!! The crystals show razor-sharp definition all around and display gorgeously in person!!!
Upon close inspection one can see some eye-visible crystals of cassiterite embedded within the crystals' surface!!! As one
would expect, this specimen has considerable heft for its size as well!!! This specimen retains an antique label from Hugh A. Ford!!! Simply
a killer example of this rare and highly sought after classic!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED MONDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 3-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY FEBRUARY 28th!!!
