A classic, old time example of this highly prized pseudomorph from Cornwall!!! These old cassiterite
after orthoclase pseudomorphs came from a small, one time find in Wheal Coates around 1828 and have
been highly sought after by collectors ever since!!! This specimen consists of a sharply twinned
orthoclase crystal that has been completely replaced by cassiterite!!! The crystal is rather large for
this occurence - and complete and undamaged!!! One end of the specimen shows some concentric layering and alteration, however
this is not damage and, in person the crystal form can still be clearly discerned!!!
The crystals show razor-sharp definition all around and display gorgeously in person!!! Upon
close inspection one can see some eye-visible crystals of cassiterite embedded within the crystals' surface!!! As one would
expect, this specimen has considerable heft for its size as well!!! This specimen retains an antique label from Hugh A.
Ford!!! Simply a killer example of this rare and highly sought after classic!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
