Description/Interesting Notes:
An absolutely magnificent, old time example of this highly prized pseudomorph from Cornwall!!! These old cassiterite after orthoclase
pseudomorphs came from a small, one time find in Wheal Coates around 1828 and have been highly sought after by collectors
ever since!!! Thise specimens are quite difficult to come by today and we have acquired every one we have ever come across!!!
This particular specimen is perhaps one of the finest examples we have ever acquired!!!
This killer specimen consists of group of sharply twinned orthoclase crystals that have been completely replaced by cassiterite!!!
The crystals are complete, undamaged, and have particularly sharp faces and features!!! There is a small amount of
intergrown quartz and cassiterite matrix in association as well!!! Upon close inspection one can see some
eye-visible crystals of cassiterite embedded within the crystals' surface!!! As one would expect, this specimen has
considerable heft for its size as well!!! This specimen is simply incredible in person - truly an extraordinary example of this
prized "Holy Grail" pseudomorph!!! This specimen retains an old, unattributed German label that references it was acquired
from 19th century dealer Daniel Blatz (in Heidelberg)!!! Simply a magnificent example of this rare and highly sought after classic!!! Don't miss out
on this rare opportunity!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED SATURDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 5-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY MARCH 28th!!!
